Idea #218: Blenderstorm idea difficulty level.

Written by oenvoyage the 12 Oct 10 at 14:19. Category: Blenderstorm. Related project: Nothing/Others. Status: New
Rationale
There are many different ideas for blender, some easy ones that might take just a developer an hour or much harder ones that would need deeper rethinking of feature and weeks to implement.

I think it would help to be able to categorize ideas by either difficulty level, or estimated time of completion.

This could be added by the user submitting the idea and then eventually corrected by a developer (who might have a bettter understanding of a complexity of feature and code).
This also allows developers to search for short ideas if they only have a few hours to spare.

Solution #1: Add a Difficulty level evaluation form field
Written by oenvoyage the 12 Oct 10 at 14:19.
When submitting an idea the user can estimate the difficulty on a scale from 1 (easy) to 5 (hard).

Solution #2: Add a Time to complete form field

In the same idea, add an "estimated time to develop"
potential scales :
1. a matter of minutes for an experienced dev.
2. a few hours's job
3. might need a day or 2.
4. longer idea, a week or more

I personally think that someone who knows nothing about blender's source (or programming in general) couldn't possibly even begin to estimate how difficult/how much time an idea would take to implement.
