Maya does sequencing and audio processing from at least a half decade, through mayasound (http://www.mayasound.com) which is included in Maya.
Blender can't really live without this, as it would make Blender more complete.
Basicly, the idea is to add LADSPA audio processing and DSSI audio sequencing in Blender to make it possible to work on games and movies with just Blender.
Midi support would be great too.
