Rationale
In the VSE (as well as when importing images into the Nodes with an Input > Image Node), when you import a large image, Blender automatically squishes it to the Render dimensions.
For example, if you have a large 2,000x2,000 px image of the Eiffel Tower, and your Blender Render Dimensions are regular HD (1920x1080)....then Blender is going to squash the Eiffel Tower down so it looks like a giant just stomped it. Obviously, for just one image, this is not a huge deal, because you can use several techniques to get it back to its native dimensions. However, when you are importing many images, it is EXTREMELY time-consuming and aggravating to have to go in and constantly re-set the dimensions of each and every image. |
