bug
Written by rexbron the 15 Oct 08 at 14:59. Category: Sequencer. New
Summary: When using Blender with external assets, such as external video files, there is no facility to keep track of the imported files or the metadata that goes with it. A system through which assets could be referenced in the project but not included in the sequencer.

Scenario: Sally has found that Blender meets her needs as a non-linear editor for a short video project but has multiple takes of each shot. She is frustrated that she has to Add > Video + Audio for each take directly onto the timeline, making switching between takes cumbersome.

Solution: She would prefer that there be a file browser like window that she could drag the clips directly into the timeline from. In addition, it would be nice to keep track of the metadata, such as the scene, shot and take number, in the asset window for easy reference.

Scene Strip render setting (GLSL/Game Engine, wire, shaded, etc.)
Written by secundar the 8 Sep 08 at 10:52. Category: Sequencer. New
The ability to chose Scene Strip render quality, i.e.: wireframe, shaded, Game Engine (using GLSL) would make for a killer Previz and Machinima app.

Previz for animation relies on rapid turnaround of iterations. Being able to choose the render type would speed up renderings dramatically.

MIDI Support in Blender

Blender have very good sequencer already. It would be useful to have MIDI support inside of it.

Sequencer Editing tracks > Tools side panel
Written by Uriel the 21 May 08 at 21:37. Category: Sequencer. New
yes, as you can see on many video sequencer, there is for each track a left side panel (eg:look like action editor window left panel).

On this one i would like to see for eack track:
- Number
- Name
- Rename button (R)
- Mute button (M)
- Alpha slider

this "track panel" can have a children, effect chanel which open up by pressing a button...(E)

Collapse long strips for easy editing
Written by musk the 19 Nov 08 at 12:25. Category: Sequencer. New
When you edit video files you often end up with long strips that have many thousand frames. To make it easier to handle these strips you can scale the sequence editor but when you need to do short blends. Like a gamma cross fade for about 1-2 secs you have to zoom in which often results in a lot of scrolling.
It would be nice if it was possible to replac the long strips with a proxy block that still resembles the original block but is only as wide as needed for the effects put upon it no mater what zoom level you are on.
The sequencer timeline would still show the correct frames for the end and the beginning.
You can work on them like a normal strip only that all operations are mapped to the true length of the block.
Like when you edit metastrips you can also tab into these proxy strips to edit the original frames.

Example: you have two video files each being 12400 frames long. When you replace them with a proxy you only see two blocks that are approximatley 2sec in length each. The timeline shows that the first proxy starts at frame 1while the second proxy starts at 12400 the end of the first proxy block.

Hope this makes sense.

Sequencer Master Track more efficient > Final editing visualisation
Written by Uriel the 9 Jun 08 at 10:43. Category: Sequencer. New
Actualy, the master track in sequencer is Track O, but you see nothing, it's empty !

As Live(Ableton...audio seq), you can see a visualisation for all the final editing...you can see where there is pictures and there's none...you can see colored transitions as well !

What i said is: maybe the master track should be separated from the "working tracks seq." by a bold line whish can be moved (up/down) by mouse like all windows.

This M track should show final editing strip and effects "zones" applied.

OR

May it should be shown in the timeline window ?
