currently you can achieve roughly 8 million polys on typical hardware, zbrush and mudbox can both achieve a couple of orders of magnitude more detail sculpting. Perhaps Kais adaptive subdivision ideas can be used for this or possibly this research

Drag n Drop everywhere

It would be wonderful if drag and drop could be used for all of the places it makes sense. This includes drag and drop video seqeunces and audio sequences on the video sequencer.
Drag and drop textures onto objects.
Drag and drop ordering for outliner, etc.

Unified painting interaction

the sculpting tool has a number of nice ideas for interaction (scaling and intensity of the brush), usage of textures for brushes, and brush mirroring - it would be excellent if these ideas could be propagated to the rest of the painting tools.

option to disable gestures
|

Written by LetterRip the 20 Nov 08 at 12:45. Category: Tools. New

Many users don't use gestures and find them to be annoying/distracting. They are also often a source of frustration for new users.
Thus it might be worthwhile to have an option to disable gestures entirely, and possibly to have them disabled by default.

Neutral vote for submitted ideas

Frequently there ideas that I don't care one way or the other on so voting up or down is not appropriate, however since I don't vote on it when I scan ideas the bright green and red arrows will call it to my attention again.
This would also allow us to gauge the actual popularity of an idea better.

avisynth for sequencer
|
|
Written by LetterRip the 2 Jul 08 at 22:54. Category: Tools. New

"The FFMPEG library supports AVISynth (presently only available for Windows users). For future builds, I would suggest enabling this option for Windows builds. Aside from the added benefit of the power of AVISynth, let me also explain from my own perspective.
As a cinematographer hobbyist, I love using Blender for its sequence editor. It's very powerful and has infinite possibilities (especially since I wrote a LUA sequencer plugin for it). The problem lies in the HDV format, which either suffers from pulldown removal with PF24 recorded video or interlacing with I30 recordings. Both of these are trivially fixed when using AVISynth. Without it, I am forced to use external programs and process/save the video as some compressed format before importing it into blender, which is a long process and wasteful amount of memory. "

Add more order/sort categories to bug tracker
|
|
Written by LetterRip the 25 Aug 08 at 04:34. Category: Codebase. New

I'd like to be able to order the bug tracker by 'most recent comment/update' so that bugs that have been ignored for a long time I can check on their status. Currently there is no way to tell if a bug has been worked on recently or not.
Also I'd like to be able to order the bug tracker by 'category' ie - see all python bugs together; all renderer bugs; all script bugs; all animation bugs; etc.
