When you have not saved your file, have blender ask if you want to quit when closing blender via the windowmanager. (useually cross button)
- This is common for most applications

Add a snap mode where it snaps to the surface of background geometry. Like retopo but for objects.

So you could hold Ctrl and objects would snap to the surface of terrain for instance.

It would be nice to freehand draw curves in blender like in inkscape/corel-draw/illustrator etc.

At the moment. scrolling files in the file selector wraps the columns vertically.

This is confusing because your eye scans all columns when looking for a file, but the files keep appearing in a new column so its hard to keep track in your brain what you have alredy seen and whats new.

Id suggest each column scrolls down and shows new files without wrapping between columns.

In 2.46 we now have 3 different ways to bevel a mesh
* Bevel modifier
* Bevel editmode tool
* Bevel script

do we still need to keep the script?
