Did you guys see the layer-manager of the new Cinema 4D R10?
It has by far the best layer-manager out there. I would love to see only the half of the features of their layer-manager implemented in blender.
Take a look a this:

It would be great if we'd have a modifier which gives a polygon selection thickness (make a single-sided polygon a box for example) or a general extrude modifier which should also handle curves.
Useful parameters are:
- Offset (of course)
- Maximum Angle (for Make-Thicker)
- "Preserve Groups" option (for Make-Thicker)
- Direction (disabled for Make-Thicker)
That modifier would be very useful for making models like vases or leafs or something have thickness in a NON-DESTRUCTIVE way where you can change the values of the parameter EVERYTIME.
(Idea is based on the "Make Thicker Plugin" for Cinema4d: http://home7.highway.ne.jp/winter-m/plugin.html )

Would be nice if blender had the ability to save and load vertex/edge/face selections. I know i could use vertex groups but for someone who is new to blender it's really hard to figure out how to save their selections.

The big majority of the users use the Turntable view-rotation system so why is Trackball still enabled by default?
It's a small thing to change but will result in less chased away people who try out blender for the first time.

Would be nice if there's an option to make the length of the drawn Normals constant (zoom independent). So regardless of the zoom - the normals are always (for example) 10pixel long.
