Written by Vincent the 19 Nov 08 at 12:48. Category: File/Image browser. Status: New
Description
A thumbnail of the last rendered image, saved within the .blend file. It later shall be shown in the file browser of Blender. Also, I know it's possible, but don't know how it's done, but this thumbnail can be also shown in Windows Explorer or Linux File Manager/etc.

In many cases (animation render) the last frame rendered will be the last frame of the animation, in many cases not very useful as file preview, so there should be some manual way of setting which frame is used, eg. in the Render Settings...

If it could be shown in the OS file manager, that would be a dream. But I think it should be under the file menu.

Sometimes we just do some test render. So I think it would be nice if there is a button on Preview Windows to make it saved as thumbnail image.

Or the thumbnail could be generated from from a viewport. A simple wireframe or shaded thumbnail might suffice. There might be no need to set up a render view or lights for some projects.
