ala-zbrush

hold a key (eg. shift) while looking around in the 3d viewport to snap to the closest orthographic view (front, side, top etc)

makes for an extremely quick modelling workflow and almost voids the use of the numpad keys to change views

currently, if you want to bake lighting (for example for game levels) you have to choose "full render" and set up some white material. it would be great if there were also an option to bake the lighting information only.

and it would be great if brecht finished the approximate one bounce GI he mentioned in a blog post once.

snapping should be compatible with modifiers. (or modifiers with snapping. i don't know where the problem is but currently snapping doesn't work with meshes that are affected by modifiers. modifiers first have to be applied to get it working.)

It would be nice to see how many positive and how many negative votes an idea got.
This would help to distinguish controversial ideas and ideas that have just very few people interested in them.

Example:
idea1 hast 10 postivie votes and 0 negative votes.
idea2 has 60 positive votes and 50 negative votes.
Both ideas show 10 votes.

ie. copy an objects position in 5 frames time

I'm making an animation with an aeroplane and it would be really useful if I could track-to the aeroplane's position in the next frame, so that the aeroplane is facing where its going. This would prevent so much manual adjustment and save a lot of time.

This can probably be done with a python script, but would be easier to use as a constraint property.

Just a small one:
Blender has that nice philosophy of hiding menu items, that aren't of any use at the moment.

In the world buttons though, there are the REAL and PAPER buttons, even though they have no use, if the BLEND button isn't active as well, according to the manual.

So my suggestion would be to hide those two button while BLEND hasn't been activated.

Cheers
Dan

See on the left we have a lovely menu with items like:

Tools
Interface
GameEngine
Multimedia

I really like it when websites' menu items show the nr of items in them as in:

Tools (0)
Interface (1)
GameEngine (543)
Multimedia (5)

I'd say for the technical bit add an extra table to which one is added every time someone posts... then you don't need to do a COUNT(*) on the database for all of those things.

BTW, could be even nicer if it showed it for all menu sections... but it may be a bit db heavy.
